It is with deep sadness that the Master, Wing Commander Graeme Morgan was informed of the death of Liveryman Sir Richard Hanbury-Tenison on 14 August 2017.  Sir Richard joined the Welsh Livery Guild in 1993 being admitted as a Liveryman  in the Council Chamber at Cardiff University on 17 April 1993

Richard Hanbury-Tenison was appointed as High Sherriff of Gwent in 1997 and appointed as Lord Lieutenant in 1997, a post he held until he retired in 2001. He was knighted in 1995 for services to the County of Gwent.

Sir Richard's daughter Laura, Founder and Chair of Jojo Maman Bebe was awarded the Company's Achievement Award  in 2014-2015.

Past Master Suthers recalled attending an event at Sir Richard's home at Clytha Park where Sir Richard discussed the coal mines and transport matters in that region, the presentation was followed by a splendid lunch.

The funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
